The leading global provider of information recently released its 2014 holiday sales forecast; and indicates that multicultural consumers are the drivers of increased spending for this season. Overall, 10% of consumers say they plan to spend more this year than last year, and multicultural families represent 43% of the additional spending projected for this year, with Hispanics accounting for 13%.The research was based on a survey of more than 25,000 American homes during the month of September, analyzing purchases of products including food, beverages, alcohol, health, beauty and home; representing more than $ 100 billion in sales.Trends such as increasing consumer confidence in the economy, low inflation and falling gas prices indicate that consumers are generally willing to spend more than in 2013.While 22% of American consumers surveyed have already started their holiday shopping, 67% of Hispanic households have to wait to make their purchases compared with 65% of households also plan to delay their holiday shopping.Among other data, Hispanic consumers tend to spend more online, in stores and toy stores, 24%, 13% and 13% respectively, showing a fairly significant sample compared to other homes in the US.To read more about this study visit {Nielsen;www.nielsen.com}.
